Abstract

Research problems faced by Vocational High Schools (VHS) in Bandung Regency include the incompatibility of the expertise competencies learned at the School with the competencies needed by the business and industrial world (BIS). One indicator of this gap is the low absorptive capacity of School graduates by the business world and the industrial world (BIS). The low absorptive capacity of labor graduates from Vocational High Schools (VHS) by the business and industrial world causes limited employment. This condition tends to result in open unemployment. The purpose of this study is to obtain an empirical picture of the implementation of strategic management to improve the quality of graduates to encourage the absorption of work. The results of this study are that the general description of strategic management that has been carried out at the Vocational High School (VHS) to improve the quality of graduates encourage absorption of work done in stages, namely 1) SWOT Analysis, 2) Formulation Phase which includes vision, mission, 3) Implementation Phase which includes setting annual targets, managing policies 4) Evaluation Phase which includes strategic activities in the external and internal environment. 5) Factors supporting the strategy in improving the quality of graduates to encourage the absorption of graduates in the business world and industry.
