Abstract

Licha ya teknolojia kutoa nafasi kwa kila mmoja kuwa sehemu ya mabadiliko yanayoendelea, inasikitisha kuwa baadhi ya watu barani Afrika wameamua kukwamilia katika ukale na tamaduni hafifu zilizopitwa na wakati. Uchawi ni mojawapo ya shughuli inayotekelezwa na wanaume na wanawake katika desturi za jamii nyingi za kiafrika ikiwemo ile ya Abagusii nchini Kenya. Hata hivyo hivi karibuni kumetokea hali ambapo adhabu kali imetolewa kwa wachawi maajuza katika jamii ya Abagusii jambo ambalo lilipelekea kuzuka kwa ghadhabu kali kutoka kwa wananchi na mashirika ya umma yakikemea ubaguzi huu. Mathalan, mifano halisi ya ukale huo ni mtindo wa baadhi ya vijana kuwachoma na kuwashambulia maajuza kwa kisingizio cha kuendeleza uchawi na ushirikina. Hivyo utafiti huu ulinuia kuchanganua adhabu ya uchawi na jinsia ya kike katika Jamii ya Abagusii suala ambalo limeonekana kuwakera wananchi na serikali kwa ujumla. Ubaguzi wa jinsia ya kike wakati wa kuwaadhibu wachawi umeonekana kuzua utegano, mafarakano, chuki na hata kuyaweka maisha ya wanawake hawa hatarini. Hivyo basi utafiti  huu uliangazia utekelezaji wa adhabu kwa wachawi maajuza katika jamii ya Abagusii aidha na kutathmini madhara yake. Utafiti huu uliongozwa na nadharia ya ufeministi na uhalisia ajabu ambapo mihimili ya nadharia hizi ilitusaidia kufikia lengo kuu la utafiti huu. Katika kukusanya data mtafiti alitumia utafiti wa maktaba na ule wa mtandaoni pale ambapo data ya kimsingi ilipatikana kutokana na tasnifu zilizoandikwa kuhusu jamii ya Abagusii. Vilevile, utafiti wa nyanjani ulitumika pamoja na mbinu ya kimaelezo katika kuchambua data na kuiwasilisha kwa lugha ya kinathari kuambatana na malengo ya utafiti. Maarifa yaliyo katika utafiti huu yatakuwa mchango katika maarifa yaliyopo kuhusu masuala ya jinsia katika jamii.Zaidi ya hayo,utafiti huu utasaidia katika kuibua mapendekezo ambayo yatasaidia watengenezaji sera wanaojihusisha na suala la ubaguzi wa kijinsia dhidi ya wanawake.
