Leadership Style and Organizational Intellectual Capital of Educational Organizations in the Kingdom of Bahrain
Abstract
This paper aimed to study the impact of leadership styles of the principals in high schools in the schools' Intellectual Capital, and establish a benchmark of which effects of leadership style may develop the intellectual capital of high schools in Bahrain. This quantitative study was conducted using a questionnaire that is distributed to 160 teachers of high schools. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 2.2. The demography of the respondents is such that 64 male (40%) and 96 female (60%) teachers took part in this study. The majority (91%) of the teachers possesses the academic qualification of Bachelors, and 70% have a total number of teaching experience of more than 5 years. The study found that there is a significant effect of Autocratic Leadership Style on the intellectual Capital of educational organizations in Bahrain, there is a significant effect of Democratic Leadership Style on the intellectual Capital of educational organizations in Bahrain, there is a significant effect of Laissez-faire Leadership Style on the intellectual Capital of educational organizations in Bahrain. The study recommended the Democratic Leadership style to be used by the high school principal in Bahrain because it has the best impact on the school’s intellectual capital formation.
